The bus will deposit you at Joppa, outside Portobello and Joppa Parish church just at the corner of our street The bus stop is announced as Brunstane Rd North (our street so you can’t go wrong!!). The service has an eight minute frequency during the day and remains regular into the evening and will whisk you from city centre to our street in a mere twenty five minutes (although at peek times traffic slows the travel). Bus fares can be paid by contactless Visa or Mastercard payment. Alternatively you can pay by correct change in cash (£2 single fare £5 day ticket) A taxi from city centre to our door is about thirteen pounds. Alternatively you can continue your train journey and connect to the Tweedbank rail service at Waverley. This has about 30 minute frequency. The first stop on the journey is Brunstane station; alight here. Come out of the station and turn left. Walk downhill over Brunstane Rd south, straight down over Brunstane Rd and cross straight towards the beach to Brunstane Rd North where we are. Its a straight line walk of about 1/2 mile.

Sat Nav postcode: EH15 2DL
Approaching Edinburgh on the A1 go straight through first roundabout coming into Edinburgh (with Asda store on left – signed “Portobello”). At the next traffic lights turn right (Signed “Joppa” ). Drive down Milton Rd East until you get to the end of the road at traffic lights, turn sharp left a these lights. Drive along this road until just past the 20 miles an hour sign and then turn right onto Brunstane Rd North at Portobello Parish Church. We are on the left just after the church. You may find that your sat nav tries to take you down Brunstane Rd to access Brunstane Rd North. However Brunstane Rd is now closed to through traffic. Please follow these directions!
APPROACHING EDINBURGH BY A ROUTE OTHER THAN THE A1, proceed East on the South city bypass (A720) all the way to the Old Craighall junction where you take the turnoff left for Edinburgh East and North and thereafter follow instructions as for the A1.
THERE IS NO PRIVATE PARKING, BUT THE STREET HAS NO PARKING RESTRICTIONS SO YOU CAN PARK ON THE STREET OR ONE CLOSE BY as there are no allocated spaces. It can be busy during the day at height of season as Portobello is a popular destination.

My husband and I spent a few days at the Straven Guest house for our 30th anniversary this year. Sinead and Chris were perfect hosts. The rooms clean and comfortable and the beach literally a 30 second walk from the front door. We both highly recommend a visit.
