Covid Update – Good News

At long last, many B&B and Cottages owners have been allowed to opened their doors from 17 May following months of closure due to the 3 Lockdowns.

All the Hosts have been welcoming booking enquiries during this time. As Spring arrived and we had the ‘Lockdown Roadmap’ to indicate when things were felt safe by the Government to happen again, B&B owners in the UK can welcome their guests again.

  • Dates have been slightly different for some venues at various times in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Please see our link at the end of this Update for more information.

B&B Nationwide and official tourism organisations in the UK; VisitBritain, Visit England, Visit Scotland, Visit Wales and the AA  are encouraging our B&B Hosts and other accommodation providers to continue to obtain and display the ‘We’re Good To Go’ kite mark and certificate.

This indicates they have undertaken the widely, and now Internationally recognised, risk assessment and are complying with all the cleaning protocols required to ensure their accommodation is safe to stay in.

You will see this Kitemark on their web page on our website

Our Hosts have also been encouraged to display a ‘Track and Trace’ poster with their QR code for guests to use with their smart phone, if they have one. This is a result of a request from the Government to help with the Nationwide ‘Track and Trace’ system.

Please remember that both B&Bs and Cottages, have a lower footfall of visitors compared to Hotels. This again reduces the risk of an infection.

Our website allows you to book direct with the owner by our providing all the contact details required. As well as obtaining the best price for your stay, it also enables you to discuss your particular requirements with the Hosts.

A list of Events and Tourist Attractions can be found listed on our website under the tab ‘Know Before You Go’. Unfortunately some of the events might still be postponed or cancelled until the ‘Roadmap’ allows them to be open up again.

Please check the Attraction’s website for their latest information

Please remember that many B&B Hosts source their produce from local businesses. By planning a trip to stay in a B&B you may often be supporting the local economy as well as experiencing a very enjoyable, well-deserved holiday.

Happy and safe travelling.

Best wishes
Sue Opperman
