Welcome to Sandhill House – A Perfect Escape to Cornwall’s Tranquil Beauty
Nestled in the heart of Cornwall, Sandhill House offers an unforgettable retreat for those seeking both relaxation and adventure. This Grade II Listed Georgian gem, set within two acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, promises the utmost in elegance and serenity. Surrounded by the peaceful expanse of eleven acres of parkland and flower meadows, you’ll find a true escape, without feeling isolated.
With panoramic views over the breathtaking Tamar Valley and Dartmoor, our historic home invites you to unwind in an atmosphere steeped in charm. Once the residence of a prosperous Cornish mine owner in the 1800s, Sandhill House is now a select adult-only Bed and Breakfast, offering guests a tranquil sanctuary in an enchanting, hidden corner of Cornwall.
Perfectly positioned within the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we’re an ideal base for exploring the area’s stunning landscapes, from the rugged hills of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor to the charming city of Plymouth. For those who love scenic railway journeys, the Tamar Valley line provides easy access to explore the region’s natural wonders.
The nearby town of Tavistock, just an 11-minute drive away, adds to the appeal, with its rich history as the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake. Plus, the famous coastlines of Cornwall – both the rugged north and the sandy south – are just a short 30-40 minute drive away. Sandhill House is also strategically located along the new Tamara Way, a beautiful trail that crosses the county, perfect for those seeking to explore Cornwall’s famous coastal walk.
For those with a love of history and nature, several National Trust properties and unique gardens await nearby. After a day of exploring, unwind in one of the local pubs, where you can savor delicious food and sample some of the best ales in the region.
At Sandhill House, we offer more than just a place to stay; we offer a peaceful haven that connects you to Cornwall’s natural beauty and rich history, all while ensuring your comfort and relaxation.
