The Annexe at The Old Furnace is a peaceful, eco-friendly retreat for one to three guests, set beside a gentle brook in the heart of the Churnet Valley. Just five minutes’ walk from Dimmingsdale and Hawksmoor Nature Reserve, it offers direct access to some of the Staffordshire Peak District’s richest landscapes and wildlife.

Designed with strong environmental principles, the Annexe avoids plastics wherever possible, using natural materials, proper wood floors, antique quarry tiles and all-natural bedding. Accommodation includes a well-equipped kitchen, dining/lounge, single bedroom, shower/cloakroom and an upstairs twin bedroom. A beautiful oak conservatory overlooks the stream and serves as a sunroom by day and a star and bat watching space by night! Underfloor and central heating make it comfortable all year round.

Guests enjoy a private garden, patio, ample parking, laundry facilities and a lockable cycle store. Linen, towels, heating and lighting are included and the kitchen features a gas cooker and microwave. The Annexe is smoke-free, TV-free for guaranteed tranquillity and stocked with books, games, maps and curated local walking routes straight from the door.

Additional services include regular milk and newspaper delivery, weekly Riverford Organic deliveries, excellent local drinking water (it’s Ashbourne water without the plastic bottle!) and shops within three miles. Some accessibility needs can be accommodated by prior arrangement; however, the surrounding hilly terrain may be a consideration.

Please note: the Annexe is unsuitable for young children and dogs.
