An upstairs apartment in our converted 17th Century farm building, suitable for 3 to 4 people. Original beams, large velux windows, a spacious living area & superb views all make this a beautiful apartment. A Private staircase leads you to The Granary. Its Master bedroom is spacious with a king size bed. The second bedroom sits under the eaves of the barns roof with a single bed & single fold down bed if required.
We are situated in attractive, unspoiled rural surroundings, about 4 miles South of Colchester. The farm is adjacent to Abberton Reservoir and located near coastal areas such as Mersea Island, Maldon & Tollesbury. Colchester Zoo is just 3 miles away and the historic Roman City is a wonderful place to explore.
Directions: From A12 travelling North: – Come off at Junction 26, signposted A1124, Halstead, Stanway. At top of slip road turn right on the roundabout, which will take you over the A12. Continue following the A1124 Stanway signs, along Essex Yeomanry Way. For next section see 'From Essex Yeomanry Way' below.
From A12 travelling South: – Come off at Junction 26, signposted A1124, Halstead, Stanway. At top of slip road turn left into Essex Yeomanry Way.
On Essex Yeomanry Way: – move to the right hand lane and turn right which will take you past the large Sainsburys store on your left.
After passing Sainsburys continue over the next two roundabouts. You will pass a large housing estate on your left hand side. Continue to the next roundabout and take the second exit to Warren Lane, following the signs to Colchester Zoo and Maldon (B1022).
Continue along Warren Lane until reaching the junction with the B1022 Colchester-Maldon road. At this junction turn left onto the B1022 towards Colchester Zoo and Colchester.
Pass the Zoo on your right. One mile after the Zoo you will come to a roundabout. Take the exit to the right, following the signs to B1026 Mersea, Layer de la Haye.
At the next two roundabouts continue following the signs to B1026 Mersea, Layer de la Haye, which will bring you to the B1026 Colchester-Layer de la Haye road and a mini-roundabout. Turn right at this mini-roundabout, and carry straight on at the next mini-roundabout, to Layer de la Haye.
At the far end of the village, at the crossroads by the Fox Tavern and the War Memorial (The Cross), turn left into Malting Green Road.
Pass the village shop (on your right) and after about 300 yards turn right into Rye Lane, by the sign to "Rye Farm". Continue along Rye Lane, past some cottages on your left, until you come to the farmhouse.
