With its spectacular dramatic coastline, picturesque harbours, sandy beaches and cultural heritage, the attraction of Cornwall has ensured its place as one of our favourite holiday destinations…and it would seem that Cornwall is reigning high as one of the top locations for a ‘Coronation Staycation’!

Throughout the country, celebrations of King Charles III’s Coronation are set to take place across the Bank Holiday Weekend from 6th to 8th May. Cornwall is no exception, including on the 6th, a live screening of the Coronation from inside Truro Cathedral, with seats allocated on a first-come, first-served basis (free of charge) on the day. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are hosting a Celebration Garden Party and The Eden Project is marking the occasion with a weekend of Coronation Big Lunch celebrations, including a big screen live broadcast of the ceremony. Bring a rug and picnic for ‘The Coronation Big Lunch’ on 7th and 8th May at Trengwainton Garden, or join in traditional garden games on the terrace at Trelissick and take in those peaceful river views from the comfort of your deckchair!

For all you film buffs and television fans out there, Cornwall, with its unique scenery and coastline, has featured in such classic films from ‘Jamaica Inn’, ‘Treasure Island’ and ‘Where Eagles Dare’, to 007 James Bond’s abseiling entrance into the centre of The Eden Project (…or should we say the villain’s lair?) in ‘Die another Day’. BBC One’s popular detective series ‘Beyond Paradise’ is predominantly filmed in the pretty coastal town of Looe.

Treglown House B&B is close to the charming fishing village of Port Isaac where much-loved TV series, ‘Doc Martin’ starring Martin Clunes was filmed. A traditional, peaceful farmhouse, Hosts, Carol and Richard, look after their guests with great warmth, care and a genuine Cornish welcome! Wonderful surfing beaches, fantastic scenery, fabulous walking and water sports are all nearby. There is also the option of 2 self-catering Caravans tucked away on the slopes of the Allen Valley.

Copper Meadow at Trevadlock, near Launceston, is an idyllic setting within 450 acres on the edge of the atmospheric wilderness of Bodmin Moor, the rugged backdrop in Winston Graham’s dramatic novel of smuggling and romance, Poldark, as well as the location of Daphne Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn! Offering peace and tranquility, award-winning Copper Meadow has the highest of standards for your comfort, attaining yet again a gold award for its outstanding breakfast! The wonders of The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within easy reach, with the Roseland Peninsula, Lands End and The Lizard providing further options to be explored.

Our County Guide of Cornwall highlights some of the tourist attractions, together with our collection of B&Bs and Self-catering accommodation in the area.

This is just a flavour of Cornwall, there is so much more…
 Happy Travelling!
