WELCOME TO OUR WINTER NEWSLETTER 2025

Winter wonder and wizardry!

Winter casts special spells on our magical lands. Stag headed trees sway like magic wands against the windswept, water blue sky. A cruel sea is lashed towards the seething shore where gale speeded sand snakes rush to fill your footprints.  A censored sun struggles to work white magic on black, snow-laced crags. Winter warms the supernatural imagination. Let it run free. Get out there. Marvel at the magic.

Wonder at the wintry waterscapes of The Norfolk Broads, the Lake District, Loch Lomond or Lake Bala. Scan the rugged skylines of the Peaks, Dartmoor, Snowdonia or the Cairngorms. Travel the gentle lanes of the Cotswolds, Devon, the Dales and the Borders.

In Scotland, celebrate its own watery wonderland…the lochs, rivers, canals and beaches…with a warming dram at the end of the day. Hogmanay is such fun, while wintry Scotland is aflame with its world famous fire festivals including the Stonehaven Fireballs. Burns Nights are even more special in the poet’s homeland. Ben Nevis is amazing in winter and the drives along the Great Glen and Glen Etive are stunning. See www.visitscotland.com.

All aboard Wales’ Cambrian Coast Railway!  This incredible feat of engineering runs between Aberystwyth and Pwllheli following the curve of Cardigan Bay. Marvel at the majesty of Snowdon in winter with a jaunt into the mountains from Snowdonia south to the Brecon Beacons. Point of Ayr, Traeth Lefan and Newport Wetlands are just a few of a treasure trove of reserves complemented by rambles on the Gower Peninsular.  And don’t forget Wales’ 600 castles. Visit www.visitwales.com.

England’s coastline is one of winter myth, mystery and history. Tintagel Castle is the birthplace of King Arthur; prehistory is the Jurassic Coast; Bamburgh Castle is living history and Brighthelmstone has a great story to tell, although we know it as Brighton. Dracula came ashore from a shipwreck at Whitby but he missed out on the spectacular Esk Valley Railway with its stunning views of the North York Moors. Visit www.visitengland.com.

Consider exploring and visiting some of these things. While you travel it is easy to find first-rate places to stay and enjoy all this, along with the best of the great British way of life by using our website  and brochure of B&Bs and self-catering accommodation – The Little Green Book.

All the B&Bs and cottages have been specially selected to ensure that they provide high quality accommodation. They range from country cottages to town houses, manor houses to farm houses – all offering a warm welcome and good value. The hosts are all keen to promote their part of the country and suggest fun days out and how best to get there.
