A quick overview of this lesser-known area of south-east England reveals 150 km of stunning coastline and the breathtaking landscapes of the South Downs National Park. It also includes the UK’s highest chalky cliff, infamous Beachy Head! Known as ‘Beau Chef’ by the Normans, it marks the end of the South Downs Way.

Sussex is steeped in history, picture Bodiam Castle near Robertsbridge, renowned for being one of the most romantic in England. Other great castles include Arundel and Lewes, standing guard over their towns. 1066 was the year William I invaded, landing his troops at Pevensey, before defeating King Harold at the Battle of Hastings. The town of Hastings, on the south east coast, is renowned for its history and heritage, as well as being a centre of excellence for arts and culture.

Visit picturesque villages, stately homes, beautiful gardens, lively cities such as Brighton and Hove with its regency architecture, museums, galleries, great shopping and places to dine. Enjoy the colourful atmosphere of Eastbourne, with its victorian pier and world-class marina or the market town of Chichester with its medieval cathedral…. and all this less than an hour from London!
